More than $12,500 was raised this year for the Lompoc Hospital District Foundation from the 2016 Holiday Home Tour and Tea.

The event, which took place Dec. 11, included self-guided tours of four spectacular homes, as well as a delectable array of culinary treats at the Lompoc Valley Medical Center’s Ocean’s Seven Café.

In addition to the tour, attendees had the option of bidding on a number of decorative opportunity baskets, bottles of wine and a custom Gingerbread House built by LVMC Dietary Director and Chef Michael Despres “We were very pleased with the outcome of this event,” said Foundation President Alice Milligan. “Everyone seemed to enjoy the day and were definitely in the holiday spirit. We are deeply indebted to the homeowners who provided the opportunity for community members to visit their beautiful homes, as well as the many volunteers who donated their time to make this event so successful.

Proceeds from the Holiday Home Tour and Tea will be used toward the renovation of patient rooms at the Comprehensive Care Center, LVMC’s skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility.

The nonprofit Foundation is in the midst of a $2 million Capital Campaign to make-over the more than 40-year-old CCC.

The non-profit public benefit Foundation was incorporated Sept. 12, 1990 with a goal of promoting health education in the community, raising funds to purchase critically needed medical technology or equipment and educating the public about the hospital’s services, facilities, and programs. There are now about 4,000 members.
